Lithium Batteries on board Hayabusa and Hayabusa2

Panasonic BR series cylindrical lithium batteries have low self-discharge characteristics, high resistance to environmental change, long life cycle, high reliability and safety.
Following  boarding on the asteroid explorer Hayabusa which returned back to the earth on June 13, 2010, Panasonic BR series cylindrical lithium batteries were equipped in Hayabusa2 launched on December 3, 2014.
Until the capsule of Hayabusa2 returned back to the earth on Dec.6, 2020, Panasonic BR series cylindrical lithium batteries supported various missions in a spacecraft.
